Reliably detect and localize leaks with a helium leak tester up to 10-12mbar x l/s

Helium leak testers were first used in 1942 as part of the so-called Manhattan project for leak testing. That was the hour of birth of the helium leak test. Nowadays, helium leak testers are among the established and most precise methods for leak testing in series production and in the laboratory. In addition to the helium leak test under vacuum, which requires a high vacuum in the mass spectrometer (p <10-4 mbar), the helium leak test in the atmosphere using helium sensors is now also used. For the helium leak test in a vacuum, the detection limit of a mass spectrometer is 10-12 mbar * l / s. Typical leak testing systems work in the range between 10 -3 - 10-7 mbar * l / s. For the helium leak test in atmosphere, the detection limit of the sensor is 10-6 mbar * l / s. Typical leak testing systems work in this range between 10-2 - 10-4 mbar * l / s. Both leak tests can be fully automated. An automated leak detection system can either be fully automated by means of robot handling or the parts handling is carried out manually by the worker. In both cases, the leak test is always automated.
